CantuSuper Shine Hair Silk with Shea Butter, 6 fl oz

I had my hair lightened at the salon to go from aquamarine hair to bright purple and my hair became pretty damaged, tangly, and was breaking off. Felt rough! Tried moisture treatment, protein treatment...all that barely did anything and my hair was still straw like. I'm not wanting to cut my hair because I have so much progress growing my hair out. This oil is amazing!!!! My hair is literally soft and silky again, smoothed the damage. After washing my hair, I put some oil on my hands and smooth it throughout my hair damp, then do a once through with my brush. I air dry and my hair is like night and day!! So much better! I was scared all was lost before using this oil. I will continue to use it after I wash my hair. I'm going to buy a backup so I have plenty of oil to last throughout the year. Doesn't feel sticky, doesn't weigh down my hair, eliminates frizz, smoothed out my hair strands, shiny hair. This oil has saved the life of my hair.

This stuff smells good and gives my hair a nice sheen without being wet or heavy like pink oil which I love but this has a different consistency and can be both used at different stages of hair care and styling. It has a slight coconut fragrance which is subtle. I never can smell it after I apply it and am going on about my day. The only time I can smell it is when I first squeeze it out of the bottle. It's best to use a very small amount so a bottle of it lasts a very long time. It's great to have and use.

I'm an African American woman, and when I flat iron my hair, I usually have problems keeping my hair from drying out. This hair silk works wonders! My hair is nourished and shiny. The serum is absorbed without any sticky or oily feel. Hair is light and flowing. It smells nice when you apply it, but the scent soon dissipates. Good product. I will buy it again.

I have frizz galore and this oil really controls the frizz, that's about all though. It does build up on the hair and it is heavy, using it on dry hair will weigh your hair down and make it greasy. I put in on while my hair is wet and scrunch my curls then leave it to dry. Looks nice the first or second day then it's a bit oily looking. The product is heavy so don't use too much, dilute with water. Great for frizz control and shine.

I use Cantu Hair Polish on my horse's long and thick tail to keep it moisturized to avoid breakage and silky soft to prevent hair loss from getting caught on things in his environment. Better and more affordable than any "Horsey" product I know!!PS I use it on my hair to keep it soft and tangle free too!

I wish my hair would not dry so fast. It’s holds moisture but I’m still looking for a better hair oil. Not sure if I should use a supplementary product with this in addition to my leave in cream.

Update: It's been about a year since my original review, and my recent experience made me update my rating from one stars to three. I originally bought this to use as a reconstructing treatment like it details on the bottle, but it turned out that was not good for my hair as I was unknowingly dealing with protein overload at the time. A year later, I had my hair in a much better place but still had sone breakage. I decided to try the silk again, but this time I only used a very small amount and spread over all my hair. I swear that my hair had very little to no breakage when I detangled this morning. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the result I had when I used this as a reconstructor like it says you can.This product did not work for me at all and actually made things worse. 3 years ago, I did a keratin treatment that went wrong somehow. I'm not sure if it was because of the heat or the chemicals, but at least half of my hair broke off when I washed the treatment out and I am still dealing with extreme breakage. I thought my hair was starting to turn around, but I was trying to reduce the shedding I'm still dealing with and thought this may help. Well, I tried it yesterday and I was left with increased breakage and large tangles similar to dreadlocks. I was left crying thinking that after all the time I put into repairing my hair, I was now going to have to shave my hair off. More money wasted on hair products I can't use, I guess.
