CURLSMITH - Shine Gel, Strong Hold Styling Hair Gel, Frizz Protection, Sensitive, Fragrance Free, for All Curl Types, Vegan (2 fl oz)

The photo is my hair today. I'm on day 4 refresh and it almost looks as good as day 1. I just got the travel size to try it out cause as most of you can relate, I've spent A LOT on products that just don't work for my hair. After wetting my hair and putting in a little curl cream I went in with curlsmith shine gel only using about a dime size for each section that was pretty wet still. It says fragrance free which it is, but to me it did give off the smell of hair dye? I kinda like it so that's no biggie. After scrunching I like to set my cast with a diffuser and it sets fast! I do have low porosity hair so regardless it takes a minute for my hair to dry, but even the curls that didn't completely dry seemed to be pretty set with this gel when I was scrunching the crunch out. Overall I'm pleased with this product and will be buying the bigger bottle once I'm close to finished with the travel size. Great hold, sets cast quickly, and it doesn't leave a producty feel to your hair afterwards.

One of my favorite gels. It is heavy, yet, for my waist length 2B waves, it sets them with little effort. It holds the shape for 3 days and the waves are easy to revive during that time. Very little frizz, unless I use too little. Love that it is fragrance free. I would not hesitate to try more from this line!

Hair. Fine and slightly wavy. For me it is Somewhat Drying. But in all fairness, the only gel that does not dry hair I have tried that does nit dry my hair is flax seed gel. I love the scented versions of their products esp the feather light leave in and cowash, but can not use bc allergies that started 2 years ago after contact derm from Redien Acidic bonding. It did impart shine, and day 1 was good but day 2 not so much. It might work great for people who do not have problems w gel.

It’s painful to shell out $10 for 2 oz of gel, but it works! A little goes a long way & it is really, truly fragrance-free. I still have a little frizz (I think a curl cream would fix that), but it does a surprisingly good job defining and holding my curls, plus, it adds a lot of volume. No sticky residue or anything. My hair looks great & I love it.

Fragrance free! And strong hold. I need protein in my hair gel or I lose my curls, and this doesn’t have protein, but so far this is working for me. Hops contains protein, maybe this is enough? We’ll see over time. But so far it’s excellent. I’m sensitive to chemical fragrances and it’s near impossible to find a fragrance free gel with protein… and strong hold. Gels that say “strong hold”, usually aren’t for me, but this one truly is. I’ve used this with a heavy application for excellent strong hold and with a lighter watered down application for a lighter hold and like it both ways. My hair is 2b-c, low density, porous, grey but colored.

I have 3A, low porosity, fine curls, and I find that this Curlsmith gel along with the Shine Cream were colossal failures! These products are WAY too heavy to use on low porosity, fine curls!After sectioning my hair and applying the Shine Cream and the Shine Gel to damp hair, I brush-styled and diffused in my usual way, which usually gives me plenty of volume and beautiful ringlets. However, when I finished, I noticed I had NO volume! My hair stuck to my head making me look HORRIBLE! And my curls were weighed down, almost as if they looked wet! There was no bounce at all! Just heavy, wet-looking, weighed-down curls without their usual ringlets. And, trust me, I was frugal with both of these products, so I know I didn't just use too much.If you have fine, low porosity curls, these products will just weigh down your curls! Stay far away! If you want a Curlsmith product for this hair type, use Curlsmith Weightless Air Dry Cream followed by Curlsmith Hydrostyle Flexi Jelly. These products work much better on fine, low porosity curls. They will not weigh them down at all and you can achieve beautiful ringlets with maximum volume!

Loving this gel. It is a strong hold, leaves a nice cast and your curls well defined.

I was looking for a gel with strong hold, and decided to give this a try based on a recommendation from someone with a similar curl type. What a difference it made! Not only did I get more hold that lasted through day 3, but adding this to my routine helped bring out a more coily curl pattern. What's more, it really did add shine to my hair. I also like that it truly smells like nothing, since a lot of smells give me migraines. I'm a fan!
